I am Jeremy, a multi-disciplinary designer who loves a difficult design challenge. I use my education and 21 years of experience in design to turn ideas into tangible, useful products.
When I am not creating, you will find me playing with my kids, spending time with my high school sweetheart, or bike riding.
My story is not much different from my colleagues; I took things apart to my parent's dismay, played with Lego, and drew quietly in class when a subject wasn't interesting to me. I loved dismantling any object to understand its construction and how it operated.
In grade school, I often drew preposterous aircraft and vehicles. While in middle school, my shop class teacher taught me drafting, the catalyst to send me on my career path. Human-Computer interfaces have always been a strong interest of mine. I began goofing around with print shop pro on a DOS-based computer around 8 years old.
As I began to learn early CAD software in my high school shop class, I saw the disparity between human logic and computer logic systems. Around my junior year, I signed up for a Visual BASIC programming class. After my programming class, I enrolled in every computer class elective. I was dazzled with the early portable computing devices and began attempting to learn BASIC on my Cassiopeia Handheld PC at home. I found it difficult to decide on Software Engineering or Architecture as my future career path. After weighing my options I choose to earn my first degree in Architecture.
I spent many years as a CAD designer, but over time I became restless due to my limited creative contributions. As Macromedia Flash began changing the web in the late '90s, I was inspired by the amazing software experiences built on Actionscript. With the aid of several thick books, I built my first Flash website around 2000. In my spare time, I made several websites for various clients. Eventually, I was allowed to design some software tools for my day job.
In the late summer of 2007, I read an article about Dieter Rams that changed my life. Two weeks after, I was on my way to earning a degree in Industrial Design. My education in Industrial Design has given me a great foundation in psychology, human factors, and user-centered design.
